Lovebird biting itself raw

I found a female lovebird in my yard. Kept her for six months no problems except she won't be handled and bites. She layed eggs twice. Got her a companion male and they got along fine for three months. All of a sudden the female started showing sore raw patches under her wings and on her back. I observed her picking at herself. Brought her to a vet who prescribed antibiotics and a wound spray and said to separate them which I did. She is continuing to pick at herself to the point where it must hurt her to fly because she has stopped. As soon as the sore spots start to heal and scab over she picks them raw again. They are both miserable apart and enjoy their supervised visitation but I'm afraid to leave them alone together unsupervised. I'm so worried about her. She is eating and active in her cage but looks so sore. Any suggestions?

Did you ever look for the lovie's owner?

Can you find an avian vet willing to do blood work, skin scrapings, fecal exams, crop swabs and x-rays? You need to rule out all medical causes that could result in plucking, and it's not cheap!

Also, what's her diet like? Cage setup? (Pictures?)
