Need Advice: Lovie Refusing to Eat His Pellets

Hi everyone. I have had my Love for about 5 months now and he has been eating his pellets regularly. Everyday I take him out for out of cage time and give him during that time a pellet ball with corn, seeds to eat. Also, the last 2 weeks I have been giving him millet pieces as well. I just started to notice he has been slowly eating less of his pellets and seems to be waiting to come out for millet. Before he ate half his bowl everyday now very little is gone, no mess on bottom of cage and no crumbs in bowl really. Is this normal and should I just stop hiving him the millet and hopefully he will start to eat more of his regular diet? Any advice would be great.

Millet is like candy to birds. I know Birdie goes absolutely crazy with millet... Don't eliminate it completely, but you might want to stop offering it so often. Pellets are much better for your lovie. (By the way, you might also want to add a bit of seed mix in there too. That should add variety if you're having difficulties with giving your bird fresh food.)

Bottom line: Don't eliminate it, but try offering less millet. :)

I will do that so he knows he should it his pellets and not rely on just the millet that he will get during his out time. Funny thing is if you go near the container which has the millet he goes to bottom of cage demanding it thinking your getting him some but are really just picking something off the floor.
