Hi Everyone!

I tried to search this forum for info on bird banding and nothing came up, so I either am not searching with right words or there isn't any info....??

So, Peaches is banded and TomTom is not. The previous owner only told me they were around a year old, but she didn't give me any background info on where/who she got them from.

Peaches band is a navy blue closed band says "VVT 26 ONT"

So having successfully traced my cousins cockatoo's band previously, I know that the "VVT" is the aviary, she's bird number 26 from Ontario. I am unable to find any aviary that is "VVT" by searching the web. I am aware that this band my be personal to that specific aviary (ie: she's bird number 26 from a certain clutch) but does anyone know where I may be able to find more info?
I am more interested in finding out which aviary and possibly her exact age.....

I was only able to find a website from Toews Parrot Place-Canadian Leg Band Codes, but they only have bands listed from aviaries that have "AAP" in the code. So beyond that I am lost!!!

Dallas and Tsukasa (Cockatiels)
Mango and Munchlax (Peach Faced Lovebirds)
im from ontario as well, but not familiar with that code.

THOUGH, i know AACC has band colour codes given every year. blue is the same as dally's and she's a 2010 bird. might be your best guess at an age so far

It could be too, that the numbering is sequential throughout, back before the turn of the century, there was a guy in Alabama, I think, had his aviary code then just used sequential numbering, with a tail letter that designated the specie.....

I am thinking this is an untrace-able band that the aviary used to identify certain chicks in certain clutches. I am thinking the "VVT" is the clutch ID and she is chick 26. I am aware that just about anyone can order leg bands online in any colour/code they like. Hence they are somewhat unreliable......

Was doing some research on the same topic and came across your post. I too have a bird with the band "VVT". My bird is chick 23!
