Hi, please can someone help me, I have a baby lovebird thats supposed to be abt 5weeks old. I've had it for 3 days now but its like a zombie. Its just frozen, if I place it somewhere just stays there frozen doesn't even blink. Is it just afraid or is it sick. Even when I leave it in its box for hours n peep at it, its just frozen with its eyes open I havnt seen its eyes close. Im so scared coz my other love bird had more energy when it was 3weeks old

I'm not really sure if it is a medical condition or not, but if you suspect that it is I would try consult with an Avian Vet right away. All birds are different so it's common that this bird is unlike your past one.

Your lovebird has been with you for only 3 days so there is still some adjusting time that needs to be finished. Was he/she hand fed/hand tamed? How is the posture? This could possibly be a defense mechanism for being in a new place. Try placing a towel over the top and 3 sides of the cage for more security. Where is your bird placed ATM? Is there any sound when you aren't nearby?

That's really something to start off with, it's really better if an Avian Vet is notified on the behavior.

What temperature is the box at? Is it weaned, or still eating formula?

I think you were right EAI, I think it just needed time to adjust coz its shown a drastic improvement already. Im so happy right now. It was lying flat in its bed and wasnt standing at all even when it was out. Now its walking around and stretching its wings. I think the formula gave it some energy as well coz I bought it from a breeder with hundreds of birds n he cant monitor every bird. I think he pulled it staight from the nest, and yes its still on formula Mekaisto and its got most of its feathers. Its very difficult to feed this lil guy but he's doing so much better. Thanks so much guys any further advice will be appreciated
