i got my peach face Neon Guava about almost 2 years ago. now she's fully part of our family and very attached to everyone, recognizes her name and all that
for a while, ive been thinking about getting her another bird. she's alwaysss trying to mate with everything. im trying to get her out of that phase but its not working. i kinda feel bad for her sometimes when she gets overly excited hearing another bird.i've not decided if im getting another one now im just thinking about possibilities..
ive got a few problems though, because i dont want her to mate. im not even sure if she's a girl or not so it'll be hard to figure if i want a male or a female.even if i do figure that out, i wont know what the new bird is and there's no dna testing anywhere around here. i dont want chicks either because i wont be able to handle so many,and giving them away will totally break my heart.
also, im not sure how to introduce her to another bird cause she is very aggressive usually towards any new people and other birds.. what if i get another bird and they dont get along at all? cause returning the bird is definitely not an option for me..
so if you have any advice it'll be nice

It sounds like hormones effecting your little one. I think I would change up her cage, add some new toys and perches and try to redirect her focus. Maybe some training exercises would help as well.

well ive had her from a long time now, and she's always been mate-ish.
ofc i'll try changing her cage around a bit. i change a few things like twice a month or so, but i guess this time i'll do something major. ive already removed all nesty things from her cage.. she used to sleep in a sock before,and that had to go.. she misses it lol

i've always been pretty successful in sexing Lovebirds by placing you index finger between their pelvic bones. If the bones are close together, it's usually a male, depending on age of course. If your index finger fits between the pelvic bones, it's most likely a female. This have worked for me when I used to raise them in the past. DNA testing would always be your best option of course. My Brambles is a boy.....

But, she's always moving around and has like variable leg distances and heights and sizes and everything :P i'll have to figure out which her original one is.. also, the new lovie i'll be getting is not gonna be tame so I wont be able to check for him/her. Thats gonna kill the point..
