So a week ago my husband and I were cleaning out all the aviaries and my husband suddenly stopped and stared at our Masked Blue + Cobalt Blue Lovebird pairs aviary and said something about how he must be hallucinating... Since i felt the same way the day before regarding the very same pair, I had a look and had to stare for a few minutes at all the 'clone birds' flying around before it finally clicked...

They secretly laid and hatched 4 healthy babies! :O This is their very first clutch. They are all now fully fledged and eating on their own so we moved them into a separate aviary.

These are the photos my husband took, since he was the one who caught them and moved them (so helpful). :p

It really was Julie! It must've been the day before she laid the eggs that we cleared the nestbox out... and every time we checked on all the birds both those Lovies were just sitting on their favourite perch. Didn't notice them going in the nestbox much at all! Sneaky little featherballs!

Thank you! :p Blues and Cobalt Blues are my favourite Masked Lovebird colours. However we have my next favs: a Double Dark Factor Violet + Dilute Violet Masked Lovebird pair also, but they are sneaky too, so we're just leaving them alone.

What a sweet surprise! Lovebirds have the most adorable faces! Beautiful babies and parents.

Great to see you here, you've been missed.

Absolutely beautiful! I love the black / grey masked lovebirds. We have one, not sure what color mutation he is - I would call his body coloring teal and seafoam green on the belly.

@ Allee: Yes! Can't believe I've never paid more attention to Lovebirds in general! Awww thanks <3 I've missed you all too.

Thanks everyone :p Yes the young/immature ones are always more 'grey' headed than black.

Hello Kinny, what a lovely surprise, they are really sweet little darlings. Such lovely faces, they almost look like they are smiling.
