My masked lovebird is a year and a half old, and about 5 days ago he started itching his face, now it's bare and he's still itching it, any ideas as to why he is doing this? I will include pictures. And he is only itching this spot, that's it. Pictures: Share.Pho.to

Please someone answer soon!

It could be mites. This happened to one of my kakarikis and I put mite spray on her and it recovered in a few days. If you have any other birds spray them too but obviously get it checked by the vet first

Thank you, what kind of mite spray do you recommend? And did you take any other cage precautions?

Well I forget what brand it was, sorry. So I would advise if you go down to your local pet store and see what they think. If they are not experienced in birds bring your bird to the vet and they will tell you what to use.It might not even be mites. Another thing you can do is add some apple cider vinegar to their veggies once a week.
