About 7 weeks ago I moved to a much smaller place (house to a condo) and ever since then my two lovebirds will chirp during the overnight hours. They are covered like normal, and I have a white noise machine to drown out the neighbors sounds.

I would think after 7 weeks they would have settled in by now - but every night I get woken up by chirps. I've had the one lovie for 6 years, and the other for 3 - so I know this is not normal for them.

I've tried different cage covers, with and without white noise machine. Covering them a shorter period of time. I am at my whits end - I need sleep! and I am sure they do too.

I'm sorry I hope they stop chirping soon during night time,l'm not expert but I imagine if you put their cage in corner of your house it will be much better also their cage should be at least 50 cm higher than ground and their cage shouldn't be rounded or circular cage it must have square or rectangular shape and cover it during night time.

If the neighbours are playing music or loud TV they could be feeling the bass sound traveling through the floors/walls which I think the previous reply may have been saying? Yes try different locations in your home to see if this helps. Ultimately is there no hope of getting them to be more responsible? Local bylaws etc?

My lovebird Pretzel sometimes talks in his sleep. It's not everynight though. If your bird is under a lot of stress, it can get nightmares, but if you've ruled that out the only option I can give you is maybe monitoring secretly their habitat while they sleep? He sounds like he's scared of something. Try seeing if maybe the other bird mounts him and bothers him while it's trying to sleep? My birds had that issue at night and I separated them. Best of luck! ♥

Can you put their sleep cage in another room while you sleep? The few times when we had to sleep in the same room as our GCC (travelling) would mean restless nights for us as he would climb around and respond to every rustle or sound that we made - it could be that they are hearing you move in your sleep and are responding. I have also heard that some birds benefit from having a night light nearby so that they can see if there's anything going on, you could try one near their cage with a bit of the cover lifted.
