i am new bird owner. i brought 4 budgies home on 24th march 2017, one white budgie from this group flew away after one month. one yellow budgie out of left three is sleeping a lot since this sunday (means from 14th May)..he is eating and drinking well i think but he sleeping most of time which is making me concerned. i took him to the vet yesterday who gave my budgie three types of medicines but this budgie won't take drops, he bit us hard when we tried to put drops in his mouth, also he would resist so hard that he hurt himself somehow, we saw minor blood stain on his left side wing. we left him in the cage again hoping he would get well on his own but i am concerned about him. what could be wrong with him, how would we get him take those drops. we had separated him in another cage but he would get so anxious and would make so much noise, he would lay down on cage bottom like he is trowing tantrums, so we put him back in the cage where we have 12 other budgies, he seems relaxed there but as i said he is sleeping mostly all the time he is not eating..as i said there is no birds doctor available here so i am seeking online advice from those who know about budgies, any helping advice is highly appreciated..thanks

The droplet of blood could be from a forced loss of a feather resulting from the handling to provide the medication.

I would have hoped that the Vet would have shown you how to hold you Parrot to provide the medication. No bird likes to take medication, so proper holding is very important.

If possible, please provide the names of the medication that the Vet provided you for your Parrot.

It is very difficult to be able to determine whether your Parrot is sick from the information provided. Since, the Vet had examined the Parrot and provided medication, it likely is sick.

Please contact your Vet again to get help properly holding your Parrot to provide the medication.

Giving a budgie medication per beak is an art. You should have had a demo at the vets office. Did they give you a syringe with extension? One must not do this unless you know how as a budgie can very easily aspirate the medication (into lungs) and get very sick. Again please check with the vet. The video is just showing you but not teaching.
