Bad Birdfood? Need help

Hello everyone,

I just ordered 5 big bags of the Roudybush maintenance diet. I've had it before, but this time it looks different, and I am worried that the food might be bad. It is not expired, and the bags were all unopened. Until now and in all pictures online it was always a uniform light colour. To me this looks almost moldy, it is not soft though.
Has anyone ever seen this? Or has any idea?

Thanks,
Yvonne

I am not familiar with this brand, but it could be possible they changed the formula and/or the way the pellets are made. Have you tried tasting it?

All foods that are not color added will have variations in color. This is caused by any number of factors related to the source components. When the color exceeds specific range, it is either used in a 'colored' application or rejected.

Depending of moisture content at point of receiving the source ingredients discoloration can occur as a result of the nature breakdown of that ingredient(s). As noted above, if it exceeds a specific range it is directed to a color added application or the batch is rejected.

I would recommend that you contact the Store you purchased the pellets from and/or the manufacturer. In many cases it will simply be switched. NOTE: Assure that you still have the original packaging and that you have the product number and batch numbers available when you call!

I've had the brand before and it never looked like this, and the images online and in the product details are all light coloured too. If it was just one bag, I would have thought it is bad for sure, but I got 5 big bags, and they all look like this, this is what confuses me.

I bought them from Amazon, they won't be able to help, unless I request a return. I have E-Mails the manufacturer, thanks :)

The downside of dealing with Amazon when it comes to food items! They are more configured to handle items that are not food related!

In the future, when your shipment arrives, note the product code and batch number of each package prior to opening. If you have written down prior shipment's product code, you can confirm prior to opening that you have the correct product.

Pellets are produced in batches! It is possible, but not common to get a 'end or start of' a batch. This group is commonly an off-color as it is a transitional part of the automated system of manufacturing. It is very rare that this 'transitional' product is found in the 'prime' product as it is normally packages and sold as transitional product to organizations like Zoos.

If possible, I would recommend that you call them.

5 Congo African Greys, 2 linneolated Parakeets,
I believe Roudybush has changed their formula, I heard it was a darker greenish color due to the addition of I think I heard alfalfa? Call the company to b sure
