hello all

Basically this lil' baby love bird was hatched around 1 month back. The unfortunate thing is that during it's infant stage, its feet was constantly stomped on by the parents.

Right now, this poor bird cannot stand up, and it can only move around by using it's body. (see pics)

Is it too early for me to bring it to the vet? What else can I do at this stage

You should have never bred the birds if you were not capable of taking care of the baby after its feet were stomped by parents. After you noticed parents 'continuously stomping' is when you should've taken it out and started hand-feeding it to prevent further injury. Now t is likely too late for vet care and will most likely not be able to move around to eat or drink on its own and will likely need to be put out of its suffering.

Please reconsider breeding your lovebirds in the future. If you had taken the baby out to hand-feed earlier, perhaps it could've recovered. Please do the humane thing, get it to a vet to see what can be done, if anything, and it may need to be put to sleep.

I would definitely take the baby to a vet to see what can be done for him. It's not too early, in fact the sooner you get him in to a vet, the more chance they can help him.

Let's try to help here. Casting blame at this point doesn't help this little lovie.

Vet NOW

there's no such thing as too early. They may be able to help them but that bird may be well disabled for life.

Pangjianlang, thank you for reaching out for helpful advice for this little one. A vet visit is definitely in order, sometimes tiny chicks can astound you with their resilience, hoping for the best. Please keep us updated.

We may not be able to change what's been done but we can offer hope for what's yet to be done.

This is the season for simple acts of kindness, empathy and forgiveness. That's why we're here.

That's splayed legs. It needs to be corrected asap. It usually occurs due to lack of material in the nest.

I just looked up splayed legs & the Vet can apply a brace or a splint type application to the birds legs. This gives me hope. Please get her to the Vet ASAP.
Google it & see pix.
