DARN! MY POST WAS DELETED!

Anyways, Dad brought home a little peach-faced lovebird from the Humane Society yesterday. Not a fan of lovebirds and we're out of cages, but we got her for free, so whatever.

Dang, I wrote some funny stuff, but it all got deleted -_-. ANYWAYS... Her name's Snuggles, which is a horrible name (for her), so Mom named her Rosie. Her old home's notorious for surrendering animals to the shelter, and she and her cage reek of cigarettes. Man, what idiots.

Anyways, I wasn't really looking forward to having her live with us (I don't like shrill vocalizations or biting), but she was really lonely and had been abandoned. Turns out she's freaking sweet as heck. When I was giving her fresh food earlier, she ran over, hopped on the dish while I was still holding it, and started "purring" to thank me. Honestly, I couldn't believe it. Oh, and when Mom had her cage on the floor while she was setting things up, Rosie called my dog, Teddy, over by making kissy sounds, then she tried to bite him on the nose. How adorable is that?

Oh, and she screams when there isn't at least two people in the family room with her. Like, fudge, she doesn't even know us yet she wants to be with us. Oh, and she makes clicking sounds and other silly vocalizations. The little brat got out of the cage while I was putting a bath in for her, and she flew right onto my shoulder! I swear, I thought she was going to peck out my eyes, but it turns out she's really gentle and extremely social. She flew around the family room, screaming, and landed on me several times. She kept going on top of the ceiling fan so I grabbed a piece of newspaper to lure her over since I know lovebirds like tearing strips off and sticking them in their feathers. Well, as soon as I picked up the newspaper she darted onto my shoulder and started tearing off strips of paper and tucking them in her back. They fell out immediately.

So...she's a wild-type, three years old, and is pretty cute. Her feathers look kind of dull, but that's probably from the nicotine. She smells pretty bad, so she's probably going to end up going through withdrawal. Seriously guys, don't smoke around animals.

Congratulations on the new addition to your flock.
"Rosie called my dog, Teddy, over by making kissy sounds, then she tried to bite him on the nose. How adorable is that?" I'm laughing out loud. My parents parrot did that but actually got their dog on the nose...

That little piece of garbage has bitten me three times, now. Do you think she bites Mom or Da? No, of course not. Aww, she's preening me right now. Yeah, I'm not actually upset with her. I mean, I put up with Noah, and now he's the sweetest little guy. She keeps trying to maul the dogs though (we keep them locked out of the room while she's out.

Know what's freaking nasty? She just had a bath...okay, I don't know if you can call what she just did a "bath". Like, she just splashed a little bit of water on her face and scooped half the dish onto me and the floor (my pants are soaked now). Anyways, she smells so bad! No, I don't mean the nasty "wet bird" smell. I mean she smells like a freaking cigar lounge from the 80s. She smells so bad! Oh my gosh, I can't believe she isn't coughing up soot. Man, even if she looks fine and seems well adjusted, this is nothing short of years of abuse. I wouldn't be surprised if it's soaked right into her skin.

Seriously guys, she is going to be experiencing some serious nicotine withdrawal once we rinse all the filth off of her. Man, I'm actually starting to feel ill. Remember that poor cockatoo on Parrot Confidential who was going through full-blown nicotine withdrawal? Well, that's going to be Rosie.

Oh, and she's a very nesty girl. She crawled up Dad's shirt yeasterday and we spent several minutes trying to get her out -_-. Now she's doing something to our winter coats...

Man, she's so much like Noah. Once she's out of quarantine I'm going to very carefully introduce the two of them. Like, super duper slowly. Don't need anyone to get mauled. Hmm, or will I introduce them? Noah's just so much smaller than her, so I don't need her to bite his foot off.
