Kiwi The Lovebird
Hey everyone! So I have a female Lovebird who just yesterday turned 1 year old. It’s been a long journey and much discipline (me getting bit a lot) to have her tame enough to cuddle.
However, one teeny tiny detail I forgot about is the fact that Lovebirds are called Lovebirds for a reason....
My Bird will not stopping trying to “get off” by me. Now nothing happens, except she raises her wings, head, and tail while making clicking noises. She does this anytime I go to kiss her, or pet her.
I know at this age, they tend to be VERY hormonal. Is there anything I can do to ease her “frustration.”? Or prevent her at least from being turned on by me? (It’s not just me actually, it’s any person who pets or kisses her).

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
Don't pet her anywhere but her head. Don't allow her to hang out in a any dark spaces (blankets, couches, boxes etc). Regulate her light and dark cycles etc, as well as sleep.. Redirect her attention when you see this hormonal behavior

Noodles said it well...You can not pet her anywhere but her head or face. Make sure you don't have any "Huts", tents, boxes, blankets, towels, etc. in her cage or anywhere that she can get to. Nothing that could be used as "nesting" material. No small, dark places. And she needs at least 12 hours of sleep every night, the best way is keeping her on a "Natural Light Cycle", so you're not extending her daylight. But the main thing right now is not petting or handing her anywhere but her head and face, that's it...No wings/under her wings, belly, lets, back, or anywhere near her tail/vent. She's going through puberty right now at her age, so this is usually one of the worst hormonal periods for a bird. But also a lot of people buy those "Snuggle Huts", tents, boxes, etc. for their birds thinking they love them and meaning well, but not only do they cause extreme hormonal behavior, but they are also very dangerous (the "Huts") because they often ingest the material in little bits and it causes a blockage...
