:green1:I have a female lovebird of 1.5 month. She is hand-raised by me, and has weaned about 2 weeks ago. She has grown a great fondness for apple and today she finishes the half of a big apple! She has eaten a lesser amount of seeds today. And the seeds were removed before givint it too her.

Should I be concerned? Can it cause a health problem?
She eats other veggies and fruits but the amount is very little. After eating apples, her poop seems watery. I'm guessing that's because of the high content of water in the fruit. Her vent looks fine.

Apple seeds contain a compound called amygdalin which can break down in the stomach to release cyanide and as we all know, cyanide can kill but like most things, it is the dose that matters. If your bird eats enough apple seeds then yes, apples seeds can kill your bird, although as that is said, it would take many, many seeds to do any harm to our birds.(around 50 Apple seeds to harm a bird that weighs 100g)
Apples themselves, without the seeds or including the pit, is safe. Feeding too much of any fruit can lead to a fat bird which can cause health problems. Since your bird likes apples, use that opportunity to train her or have her forage than to just place the fruit in a bowl.

Well the seeds were taken out of the apple beforehand of course. I'll try to make her find love for some other veggie or fruit of low sugar content and limit her consumption of apple.:green1:

Good you’re taking the seeds out. My question would be how much apple does your lovey actually ingest and how much of it ends up on the floor? You can always try to lessen the amount of apple your bird has access to little by little but if she’s anything like my Lilly Pilly I’d expect to see a fair bit of fruit flung onto the floor!

She lets some out, after she'd done chewing on it. Around one-forth weight of the total amount of apple consumed is left scattered after she is done.
