Hello,

I have two bonded lovebirds that are (we think) sisters living in a large cage in my lounge. I have seen another lovebird for sale which I would like but wondering if it’s okay to keep another lovebird in a separate cage in the lounge or if this will likely upset the birds? I would let them out of their respective cages at different times but just wondering if this will bother the pair or the lovebird on it’s own?

Many thanks!

any new addition can upset the flock. You will need to quarantine any new bird in a separate airspace for 45 days and get all of your birds to an avian vet if you haven't in order to make sure that the new guys doesn't make them sick and they don't make him sick. Obviously, you cannot take them all in the same car, as that would defeat quarantining. Just know that seemingly healthy birds can spead very serious viruses without ever showing symptoms themselves.

Birds can be okay alone, but if you have 2 females and you get a male, there is a high probability of hormones etc...so basically, you would never be able to let them out at the same time, which means you would need like 6 hours a day for play/ interaction
