3 year old Greenwing Macaw needs re-homing Cha Cha has found a home!
There is a 3 year old Green wing macaw who needs to be re-homed due to life changes of the current owners, who raised him from a baby. They are moving out of state and unable to take him with them. The Green wing named Cha Cha is located in Land O Lakes, which is about 2 hours west of Orlando and about 1/2 north of Tampa.
The owners are desperately looking for the right caring & Loving home for him. There is a small re-homing fee associated with Cha Cha of like $695.00. Cha Cha is very tame, but with most male 3 year old macaws you will need to maintain dominance over him. So medium to large bird experience would be helpful. I hate to see them having to re-home their baby, but it is what it is. So if you can help, or know of someone who would be interested, please post here and I'll give you all the information that I have. I attached pictures of Cha Cha and what a gorgeous bird he is. This is not my bird (although I wish he were) and have nothing to gain from this. I'm just trying to help out to find Cha Cha the right home and hopefully his forever home. I wanted to post the info here, because I'm hoping that there is a bird lover/forum member in that area who would be willing to adopt Cha Cha. EDIT: I also want to make sure and ad that Cha Cha comes with a HUGE cage, a really neat play stand, toys, food and some other stuff. I think who ever makes the leap and gets this bird will be very happy with him once he gets to know you. So if your looking for a great Macaw, this would be a great bird for you. It's breaking my heart not to get him and bring him home. ![]() Greenwing Macaw here is one of the owners ads for Cha Cha, with her contact number. I have a couple of videos of Cha Cha if someone would like to see them. If you email me I can forward them to you. They were sent to me from the owner. Mike THE PRICE ON THE LINK IS WRONG, THEY DROPPED THEIT PRICE TO $695.00. Also, if your in the central Florida area and would like to see videos of Cha Cha, you can email me at mtdoramike2@aol.com and I can forward them to you. Re: 3 year old Greenwing Macaw needs re-homing
I would take him and I would sorely love to, but my wife is a might intimidated by the size of a Macaw and their beak. With this being a Green Wing aka: Gentle Giant and being like one of the biggest birds in the Macaw species doesn't help that apprehension either.
BUt if I could I would grab him up in a New York minute. So hopefully someone will step and give this super guy a great loving home. I don't think the pictures really does him justice, but you can still see how majestic this beautiful creature is. Last edited by mtdoramike; 05-20-2011 at 07:02 AM. |

Re: 3 year old Greenwing Macaw needs re-homing
Aw. My husband and I have been wanting a large macaw recently but we are in no place to buy another one so soon. He is gorgeous though! I really hope he is able to find a good home. That is very nice of you to help them out. I am sure it is hard enough having to rehome him.
I tried to post them here, but no go. Last edited by mtdoramike; 05-17-2011 at 05:53 PM. |

If this would have been posted about 3 years ago, when I lived in FL, I would so have tried to be his loving home. He sounds wonderful.

Re: 3 year old Greenwing Macaw needs re-homing
The owners are like a 2 hour drive from me and have even offered to bring Cha Cha to me if I would give him a home so that it would be less traumatic on him. They are very picky about who gets him, they have had a few visitors, but they weren't happy with them.
I asked them to make sure and do a home inspection and even consider doing a contract with the prospective buyers that they would agree to give Cha Cha a forever home and if they couldn't down the road then they should contact the previous owners and give them first option to get him back. WOW, that was a mouth full. They should also request periodic updates on how Cha Cha is doing at least for the first year. This will elimnate the bird flippers and bottom feeders. |

Re: 3 year old Greenwing Macaw needs re-homing
They would have been about 2 hours from me if they are near Tampa. Very good advice you gave them.
I hope they find him a home. Its good that they are being picky. If you don't get a good vibe from people, then its always a NO. To me re-homing a parrot should always be treated like an interview for the job you always wanted. You need to prove you have what it takes! |
