I have had several Macaws in the past but I don't remember any have nails this long!
I installed a concrete perch so I don't need to trim later but these look too long to me, what do you think?

I don't know alot about macaws, but they look too long to me. Have you had a vets visit for him yet? I think I would get them trimmed @ the vet & then use your concrete perches to wear them down.

i would say they are pretty long, I would have them trimmed and then maintained with the perch, but i would go with a larger perch

I do also agree the nails needs to be trimmed! A little bigger perch will do good!!! I recently bought the therapeutic perch at pet supermarket that's on sale for $6 which is a good deal. Its a concrete perch in wavy shape. Willie likes it!!!

Yes, their nails are way to long. You must have them clipped by someone who knows what their doing. Be careful not to hit the vein. Concrete perches are the best. i have them for both my boys and they have learned to grind both their beak and nails onto the concrete perches and have never had their nails or beaks trimmed. Best of luck. Joe
