Hi everyone. Thought I would move our post to here in the Macaw section.

Jake was born on 8-1-11 and on day 10 earlier this week he gave us quite the scare. We almost lost him due to crop slow down. He became ill and lethargic. His crop swelled and he did not poop for several hours.

When I got home he was barely making any noise. He was swelled up and I noticed he had what looked like a stoppage on his butt. I gently pulled on it and it came out. This was odd because my wife cleans and checks on him hourly. I washed/messaged his belly for about 5 minute and he finally went potty.

My wife did some researching and we flushed him out with water for 12+ hours. Also we made some changes in his diet and feeding habits. It was amazing how fast he recovered and he is very active now.

It's amazing how fast you can fall in love with these guys and we are so happy that on day 13, Jake is doing awesome!!!

Jake is really growing in size lately and doing well. We found out that there is actually a name for his breed, a Catablu Macaw. We look forward to seeing his colors when he starts pinning!!

Very sweet. He's so tiny, its hard to believe he's a macaw. What cross is a Catablu Macaw? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys!! We love him very much!! He is a hybrid cross between a Catalina and a Blue and Gold.

A Catalina is a cross from a Scarlett and a Blue and Gold...

Thanks all!! We can't wait till he opens his eyes and gets to see us for the first time. All he has ever known from day one is us so this little guy should bond with us/people quite well.

Here is Jake at 5 1/2 weeks. He was stunted after his illness and weighed only 144 grams last Saturday. As of today he has gained 82 grams in just 5 1/2 days and is now 226 grams. He is eating 10+ grams of his body weight every 4 hrs. He is developing well and his eyes are about to open.

Yes he is... He is so cute with the cuddle noises he makes after eating or when he's just chilling...

Whoa! What a TREAT to be sharing these videos/photos!

All my birds had feathers when I got them :D

But even still, with all his nakedness,I can tell he's going to be so darn handsome! ;)

I am very glad to see that he has grown a lot & is doing well.
It's amazing how much bigger his beak has gotten!!
