I don't use bleach on River's cage. I use a steam cleaner :)

Thanks

I forgot to mention I let it air dry before I let everyone back in.
They hang out on my large perch while I clean the cage.

I never use bleach. I use vinegar and water instead and I thoroughly wash the cages weekly.

I NEVER USE BLEACH. I also use a steamer to clean their cages. I do it once every couple of weeks. But I do a wipe down every day. Bleach will leave a residue no matter how well you clean it off.

I use copious amounts of 'poop off' cleaner (AMAZING STUFF!!), so that it never gets terrible. I power wash if it just isn't looking very good and at that point i might bleach and rinse via power wash, but I don't use it or call it part of my bird cleaning repertoire.

I change the paper every day... sometimes twice if it's really bad. About once a week I pressure wash - no soap, no bleach, nothing.. then let it dry in the sun.. Lucky I live in Fl

I clean ziggy's seed guards a couple times a week with vinegar and poop off, I clean the actual cages once a week with just vinegar/water and poop off, and scalding hot water from the shower. I have been keeping aspen bedding in the budgies cage trays so I just scoop that as needed and completely change once a week :)

Bongo doesn't poop in his cage, so we change the paper every 3rd day or so. We wipe and dustbust the cage at the same time as we change the paper. We clean it throughly every few weeks, since food and stuff will sometimes get stuck in it. We will typically use hot water and vingear or some poop remover that I can't recall the name of.

papers are changed every 2 days. I use a brush and soapy water every week..hopefully will get a steam cleaner soon. Is there anything you can get for disolving their poo?

i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
I use gse everyday. I also change the paper everyday. I just got a steamer and it has changed my life. Spray down with gse/water mixture, better than bleach at disenfecting! It also softens the poop. I then follow with a steamer and away it goes!

Change the paper every couple of days or every day depending on how much poo is on them or how much toy piece are building up. My bird is a shredder. I take the cage outside and powerwash it every weekend or every other weekend. I just use soap and rinse very well.

I change paper and scrub down bird cages with Nolvasan daily. I personally think it's easier to wipe off only a days worth of poop and fresh food.... takes an extra 5 minutes a cage, and I don't get stuck scrubbing later in the week. For heavy poopers (macaws) I use pam on spots on the bars that they poop on frequently. Perches are also wiped down with Nolvasan daily. I soak all my handfeeding and medical equipment in Nolvasan and water, etc..

I guess what I'm saying is I use a lot of Nolvasan :D

Using Pam on the bars sounds like a good idea. I may try it for my foster macaw. Thanks Shredded Oak

Ha,ha, I should just buy the company that makes "Poop Off". I never use bleach as I was told by my avian vet that its just too strong.
By the way, I love your Quack Quack! I had an Orange Wing for 30 years and it took me 3 years after he died to even consider another bird.
