I would like to ask everybody for opinions on male verses female.
Which do you prefer ?
Do female birds tend to like the opposite sex , or can they accept either
just as well ?

I have the chance to get a fully weaned female Hy. :jumping40
I assumed I was going to get a male so I never gave it much thought.
Now I'm not sure .

Thanks , I thought I would be excited about this , but now Im just scared
to make a wrong choice :52:

Thanks

I have no idea if the sex matters for bonding but I am gonna be begging you for pictures!!!

I'm not jealous at the moment because I don't even have my new arrival yet ,but I'm sure I will be once you get her!!!(if you do)

Do you have the oppertunity to go and see if you like the bird? I don't think sex matters very much, and I'd never be picky with a Hy!! So jealous :)

I'm going to look at her next week and we shall see.
Just last week I was seriously considering a
Blue Throated . So now , knowing I will have access to
the funds l was left in days , it's all a little overwhelming.
I really want to make the right decision here.
It's a lot of money. I can get that Blue Throated , nice cage ,
all the toys I could ever want for my birds and with a little more
I can get that barn for my goats built in a couple of days.
Or I get the HY and cage , accessories , toys , for a crazy
amount of money. Then still have the barn built , but of
course that will cost more. I'm just trying to make the best of
everything. All I know is Yoshi and Rosie will have a crazy amount
of toys soon , lolol. My boy has a fetish for acrylic toys :)
My dogs will get all the antlers and bully sticks they could ever want.
The cats ,well, maybe catnip or whatever , lol.
I take better care of my animals then I would ever take of myself.
My husband , I guess he Could see some clothes , lol

I do love the blue throats too, I heard they were clever and the little mechanics of the macaws

I wouldn't be picky with either of those magnificent parrots. I personally would prefer the blue throat but that's just me. Just be prepared for eggs if you get a girl that's all I can say.

It's funny how you hear from relatives you haven't heard from
in ages , lolol.
I only seen this happen in the movies . Thank God for caller ID :)

My head is spinning from all this. This Dec. will be three years my
Aunt died and they just settled on the will . It totally kills me how much
the lawyer cost ! And how relatives can fight over money on minute and the next be
your best friend ! Amazing !
I just want everybody happy and healthy .

7 Year old SI Eclectus named Guapo, I have a 6 year old GW Macaw named Neleno
If I had the means, I would also get a Hyacinth but I must say, that owning a Green Wing macaw as shown on my profile picture, I would not trade him for a Hyacinth. Green Wings are very sweet Macaws and would match them to a HY any day.
The bond I have with my Neleno cannot be matched.
Brue Throat macaws can be nippy as they mature,
Hy and Green Wings need lots of wood toys that can be expensive.
Make sure what ever you deside to do here that it's best for both you and the Macaw. Best of luck. Joe

At the moment I would not want 2 macaws, lol
I don't even know how it's going to be with him in the house, but if all goes well with him you never know what the future holds haha

I just want him to be home already

I appreciate your advice JJones1719 . I have been hearing about the nippy ness
of the Blue Throated . It's really something to think about.
I want to try to avoid that kind of trait for sure .
I know the GreenWings are amazing birds. My friend is still trying to talk me into getting one :). I'm just trying to make the best decision here. I know this is
going to be a huge responsibility . I know I can handle it . But I'm just
getting nervous now since its finally time ! I can't tell you how much my head
is hurting . I just have to let them pick me I guess.
:white1::white1:
My husband did tell me I am forbidden to go near any more bird shops !
He is afraid I will bring home any bird that looks at me !!
Especially Goffins :p
