macaw chewing feather

I am new to the sight I am have prob with my macaw she is chewing feather but only new one that are come out I have try ever think to stop it but it not working I think it psychology.i payd £200 for the bird and she was like it when I got it she find it hard move cause feet are messed up can you help thanks

Aww, look at her poor toes.

How long have you had her? She may never stop, if its a mental stimulation thing it could be habbit already and it may just be something you have to live with. Make sure she has plenty of different types of toys to play with and keep her busy, lots of outside cage time, things like that.

she dont get put in a cage and toy dont help i have try lots things she had a tv and and i have try a Avian Fashions hoody but she start pull leg feathers out she has aviary so she can go outside with my green wing macaw. but it not working

That hoodie is cute.

She may never stop, you have to be prepared for that. Have you taken her to a vet to make sure she doesn't have anything going on?

she dont get locked in the cage at all door left open and she spends most time on top and sleep on top cage to

Does your Macaw have access to toys, chew things, that type of things.

Bordom maybe? Not sure but sorry you and your FID are having this situation!!

Hope it can be brought under control.

A Greenwing, a Sun Conure, and a Hahn's Macaw
So sad. Its like a teenager who cuts themselves.

If the vet says nothing is wrong, you'll just have to overlook it. Nothing I've ever read indicates that anyone knows how to stop this behavior with parrots.

she will not play with toys i have put loads in her cage but she will not tuch them i am move house in a moth and it will be a 3 bedhouse so what i am going to do in one the room is what they have done in the pic

no the man i got it of had it for a day and then sold it to me i pay £200 with a cage this uk price but i ask him for some past history but didt no anythink

it a female i had it dna test dont no age vet look at her told me she look about 7. she had a full vet check up with the best uk vet for parrots and he told me all that was up with her was to much fat on lungs but need food chang and she need move about more but that hard cos of her feet

no i did ask the man he didt no vet told me it might been mum or dad when she was baby look like she had a hard time that why i payd money they was after cos i didt wont her stay with them

yea, i know a lady who breeds bird, well she used to now she get them from a breeder and hand feds them, but i saw a African Grey ones that hes had n some toes where messing i ask what happen, in what happen was it was a birth effect as in if the inkabaitor (how ever u spell it) in it either got to hot or cold n thats y her toes where missing

it might be that. she finds it hard get about on her cage but she get on with it. i got do somethink stop feather chewing cos when she chewing them of there blood all over her. and about 1wek later she doing it agein with the new one that are start come through
