Re: macaw chewing feather

Aww, look at her poor toes.

How long have you had her? She may never stop, if its a mental stimulation thing it could be habbit already and it may just be something you have to live with. Make sure she has plenty of different types of toys to play with and keep her busy, lots of outside cage time, things like that.

Re: macaw chewing feather

That hoodie is cute.

She may never stop, you have to be prepared for that. Have you taken her to a vet to make sure she doesn't have anything going on?

Re: macaw chewing feather

Does your Macaw have access to toys, chew things, that type of things.

Bordom maybe? Not sure but sorry you and your FID are having this situation!!

Hope it can be brought under control.

Re: macaw chewing feather

So sad. Its like a teenager who cuts themselves.

If the vet says nothing is wrong, you'll just have to overlook it. Nothing I've ever read indicates that anyone knows how to stop this behavior with parrots.
