Do you have other dusty birds? If you have a dusty bird elsewhere in your home it can be detrimental to you Macaw.

Hi there

Thanks to everyone for the replies...

In response I have no other birds in the house and have checked all doors and windows for drafts... I am currently seeking advise from another avian vet for a second opinion...

I would be inconsolable if anything happened to him...I just feel so helpless at the moment...

A second opinion from another avian vet is a wise move. Maybe the new vet can perform some further tests and perhaps try a different antibiotic. My heart and thoughts are with you and your little Macaw! Please post back with any status updates.

It may not be bacterial, it may be fungal...
A week after we got our baby B&G we took her to vet and she had elevated white counts and lower red counts, plus had candida and higher than excepted E.Coli counts. My Dr. put her on LS50 antibiotics and 2 diff types of anti fungal (nystatin and fluconazole). He said best to cover the bases. I pray things work out for you and the macaw.

Amen - leomacaw - the pic says it all!
