Hey Korben is now Flying, everywhere... And turns in the air without any issues.. I am wonderful how long until he should get clipped for his safety... I'm having surgery next week and don't want any issues of him fly or getting out.. he fly's around the house!! He's be flying for over 2 1/2 wks now!

I dont want to clip him but with kids and doors open he will follow me everywhere!! I love the circles he does in the living room so amazing and i can't get over he's only 15wks.. Seem like not to long ago, he was a naked lil 10 day old chick! Now all we have to do is get him eating more on his own!

So what age did you start to clip? and im hoping we wont have to do it forever.. just till he's knows where home is and doesn't get hurt!! I wont do it till next week but if you think i should let him fly longer!!?!?!?

This is just my opinion: If you feel he can safely keep his wings and do his circling and flying (which must be some awesome sight to see!!), then I would leave him unclipped.

If, however, you are unable to supervise his flights and feel he could possibly escape or hurt himself, then I would just start off with a baby trim, cutting only so much that he can still fly a little, but not gain much height.

He's ready to be clipped now. Much to every nonclippers objections it won't have a devastating sociological effect on him. All 3 of my birds are clipped (the 2 I raised from 5 week old chicks only got to fly once) and they all get to go outside with me almost every day.

I did not have either one of my boys clipped until the really knew how to fly and this was around 10 months old or so. I wanted to make sure that they knew how to fly and once clipped, they could still flutter to the floor without harm.
Thanks for posting Joe
