i bought fargo for $4500, then it was $400 on a cage.. and about $200 on toys..
each week its about $20 dollars on fresh fruit and veges... he then gets probably $50 dollars of new toys and foot toys and treats a month
It would cost about 2000 to 10,000 depending on the macaw. To get a really good size cage to fit a macaw would be 600$ . 50$ to get good quality toys. 12$ to get macaw pellets not adding the fruits, veggies, vitamin supplements for some birds. The most costly one his vetinary care. Can be 1000 s of dollars for a surgery on a macaw or 200 $ depending on the vet for a check up.
the bird, playstand and cages were free~ I make most of my toys, about $20 month, my husband owns a produce company, free fruits and veggies, 20lb of zupreem natural pellets $49 last about 3 months
I spend about $150
30 for bag of food
30 for bag of food
30 for toys
20 for fruits etc
20 for treats
70 what ever else I need more toys, treats more fruits more food never really pass this tho but it's always put to the side just in case
And if your looking to buy a parrot hit me up I can get a really good price on birds I spent about 350 for my sever macaw 500 for my goffin cockatoo
800 for grays
900 for rose breasted cockatoo
450 for military
And 600 for blue and gold
It depends on where you live, In the U S on the east coast, I purchased my GW at approx 2,000, another 1,000 for the cage, 300.00 the first week in Vet bills. I have two birds so it runs approx $25.00 a week in fruit and veggies, 50.00 a month for seed, nut, and dried fruit mix. 50.00 a month in Pellets.
I too make my own toys so zero there. I get free news paper from my neighbors to line the bottom of my cages.
Wait a while until you can afford a Macaw. Most people who ask how much does a Macaw cost normally cannot afford it.
They are expensive but worth every dollar. Best of luck Joe
That sounds like a question my hubby would ask me.
Not including the initial purchase price of my Macaw, the cage and accessories, I'd say I spend about $200 on all 3 of my birds/month, give or take a little.
$20-25 bag of food
Toys, make most but probably $12-15
Fresh food ??? A lot of it she shares with us at our meals, fruit, veggies, chicken, etc.
This doesn't count cages, vets, and other expenses that aren't monthly
