hahns macaw

Hi all, I have decided after a year of searching for a parrot, I have decided on a hahns macaw. I will not be getting one til spring, so I will be learning more about them, Im just wondering if anyone has any do's and don'ts for me, I want to have the healthiest and happiest baby out there!! Maybe what kind of treats and stuff they like and can and can't eat!! thanks

I have a yellow collared macaw, which is also a mini macaw, and he's great! He almost never poops on me, which is a bonus.

My daughter has a Hahns and it's a poop machine.

She's had two Hahns--one large and one small. The small one is about the size of a Sun Conure. It's the most cuddly bird of our flock.

I highly recommend the smaller subspecies.

the one I'll be getting, the lady said will be the size of our conures and she said they make perfect pets!! I can't wait to bring my baby home!!

Mine is a velcro bird when he is out and loves to be cuddled, scratched, ruffed up haha. He can also play independently when in his cage or on his stand which is good. Also goes absolutely crazy for showers... loves them.

Elroy never poops on me either. I just kept running him back to his cage top (a gym on top of his cage) whenever I saw him do his little pre crap dance and he pretty quickly figured it out. They are smart birds

Mike by bigger and smaller hahns are you comparing hahns and noble macaws? or are they actually larger hahns? Elroy weighs about 150g which seems to be about average for hahns. A bit bigger than most sun conures though.

There is a size difference between a sun conure and a hahns macaw, but not by much!
