When Maynard Screams...

My other three don't enjoy Maynard's screaming sessions much. Each of them is a fairly quiet bird scream-wise. Zaf tries to get away from the noise, and Salsa's not sure what to do (he often yells to Maynard "you're too loud!" though). Poor Jack just paces until it's over.

OMG!!!!! I just played that for ReaRea and she was looking for something to kill!!!!! Eyes went nuts and she kept biting me on top of it! (not painfully thank goodness)

OMG what a scream LoL

Mishka was sitting quietly on his swing, until I played the vid
He then began whistelling loudly and began swinging roughly.

Only when the vid stopped so did he

This is the first time Mishka was lost for words LoL

Now you all know what we have to put up with around here

. He'll go on for an hour like that at times! But screaming is one of Maynard's joys in life, and he's a special needs bird... well, maybe not so much anymore. But he had a stroke in February of 2011 and wasn't able to stand on a perch or hold pieces of food with his foot. He lost over 100 grams in a matter of a few days and I truly thought he was nearing the end. Thankfully his will is so strong that he was able to re-wire himself to the point where he's a fairly normal parrot again - well, that is, as normal as Maynard can be - as well as the powerhouse vocalist that you hear in the video!

Oh ReaRea and Miri can get plenty loud when they want to......especially when I'm cooking.......Thanksgiving was VERY loud here :32::52:

I'll try to fire up the webcam later today with some of them in here

For that matter Shiloh & Halo can get it going pretty loud too! LOL

Kalani alone can get you to cover your ears :11:

I just listened to Maynard the second time and brought Niko up with me. He is NOT amused. Hard lesson learned (for me).

Goodness, Plax, I'd be running, pacing, AND looking for cover. :54:

I'm still shocked at Niko's reaction though. Usually, when something or someone's too loud, all he says is "Shut up." Not today.

Trust me, my other Macaws don't care for it much either. Maynard, himself, is the only one here who likes it. The rest of us are more or less his victims

Yeah, I think that's probably why Zaf charges at Maynard on the floor whenever he gets the chance

I'm happy to know that Fargo survived the video

OMG I think i will stick to my canary and smaller parrots but that video did shut mine up except for Bentley our chiweenie who started to bark then hide under a blanket, course he only weighs 4 .5 lbs and thought he was toast

Haha.. What a racket.
Jax wasn't bothered by the noise at all, it was as if I wasn't even playing it. But there is always 3 screaming boys running around my house so I guess he's used to noise.

WOW!! I commend you for being able to concentrate & still hear with that. It does seem ironic when a macaw wants to get away from another macaw's scream.

My boys have never been that loud or that continuous with screaming. With my working nights, I'd never get any sleep if I lived with that scream. Mine do scream, but not to that extent. WOW!

I'm still at work, so I don't know what mine would think of it.

Maynard actually sleeps when the lights go out. Thankfully!!!

So that means you're playing Maynard's screaming voice inside of a maximum security prison? Hmmm, I suppose that if you ever have a riot there you can play the clip of Maynard yelling and hold the speaker up to the PA system mic until all the inmates quit causing problems and go back to their cells to make it stop
