Ok so at lunch today I was indulging in a chicken burrito when Waddles decided she was going to come and take a hunk. So she dropped the tortilla part but was loving the chicken. It just doesn't seem right that she would like chicken although I know many of them do. LOL

My husband says don't let her have that its like giving her, her own leg!:blue1:

They know good protein when they see it! Sunny loves chicken. She doesn't care about the meat but she loves the fat, and gristle on the bones and then she splits the bone and eats the marrow with gusto. This is one of her favorite meals although she doesn't get it often.

Parrots are opportunistic omnivores. They eat what they can catch in the wild, and also eat flowers, fruits etc...

It's good grub, although I don't feed Aizen meat, egg, or dairy; plenty of hunters and scavengers out there that live on other birds.

I was talking to my mum about this yesterday. I heard about people feeding their parrots chicken. My mum said it was cannibalism but they aren't the same species... I wasn't sure about it though and it does seem strange still. Not as strange as people feeding their chickens chicken. but if its good for them I might try mine with a little bit because they are only small birds. I occasionally give rainbow a tiny bit of cheese.

I did see some pigeons eating some fried chicken once, living on the street I suppose they can eat what they want and can find.

I'm curious as to how people cook the chicken before feeding it to their birds? =)

Our birds love roasted chicken. I either roast a chicken or purchase one at the grocery store. They don't get the bones or fat, but they love, love, love the white meat. I make little packages and freeze it so that I can pop a piece out of the freezer every few days.

The marrow in the bone is good for them. A chicken bone leg is a great foraging source of food. I live a bit of meat on the bone for my Grey to pick at.

I know it sounds weird to give chicken to parrots, but it can be as weird to give them eggs too. And yet, they love that as well! :)

A parrot eating chicken is no more cannibalistic that a human eating another mammal, they're no where near the same animal!

all three of mine love chicken and Odin loves the bones.

I usually boil it or if I'm making a stir fryI'll cook it in red palm oil
