(Note 1: The audio on this clip is slightly off-sync. It's that way because while I was shooting the video my 32GB SD card happened to fill up. I actually got a "free some space" popup in the middle of it. The audio track is intact, though, and that's what's important.)

(Note 2: In case you're wondering, Salsa is doing his neurotic wing flicking thing because Maynard had just been screaming incessantly and that drives Salsa crazy. But obviously he still talks when he gets stressed by Maynard's explosive scream sessions.)

SUPER precious, Tony!!! I just want to scoop him up and smooch him all over - honestly. :) He's got quite a repertoir there, doesn't he? :D

How do you deal with Maynard's screaming episodes? Is it ever contageous....do any of your other babies every chime in when he's at it?

The only way I've found to deal with it is to allow Mayn to get it out of his system. The drawback in doing that though is that it's only out of his system temporarily :(. And yes they do chime in on occasion... but none of them can hold a candle to Maynard's screaming stamina! So they always give up soon after starting while Mayn just goes on and on.

The reason I asked about it being contageous is because the other day, when I was vacuuming, ....of ALL birds, NIKO started. :eek: He honestly very RARELY goes off. Within 10 seconds Ripley chimed in, and they both continued until I was done. :54: And yes, it was VERY loud. :eek:

...now back to the Salsa....I haven't asked in a while, how's his weight these days? Has it evened out and been steady? I know he's a BIG BIG boy. :)

My suspicion is that, because of Maynard, my other 3 are SO burned out on the sound of Macaw screams that they'd prefer not to hear even their own screams for long ;).

A couple weeks back he hit his all time high of 1709g with his crop filled, and 1665g (+/- 2 or 3 grams) at his morning weigh ins. But I've got him doing vigorous flap-flap workouts during the evenings now - and he absolutely loves them! Plus I'm more closely controlling how much he consumes throughout each day. He now bounces between the 1620s and 1630s at his morning weigh ins.

As usual, Salsa at his best! :) He is always so adorable & I too would scoop him up & cuddle if he were close to me. ;)

Wendy, I have been having the same reactions from Roscoe lately when I vac' and especially when I get the mop & bucket out. He has never been 'attacked' by the mop, but he seems think it is a demon ready to pounce & devour him.:eek: He even acts that way if he can see it leaning against the wall on the other side of the room.:mad:

If he is out on his play perch & I get them out, he flies all over the place & I have to put him in his cage where he proceeds to scream at the top of his lungs.:confused: The last two times I vac'd he has screamed about it & he was in his home. I think he is just thinking up things to make life interesting for him at my ear's expense.:( Angel will scream just because brother is, but not every time.
