Hi guys,

After recently getting Holli me and Jack have been travelling all over to get bits and bobs for the apartment.

As many can imagine, having three parrots in the house I get through a lot of supplies including toys, pellets etc. I don't like buying online as much because I like to feel and try new toys, I have just spent quite a lot at two stores on different bits and don't mind the travel as we have done around 8 hours of car journeys across the uk to get bits just this week.

Does anyone know of any well stocked parrot shops? The generic shops are awful for birds and I really want a "go too" place.

Recently fit the play gym with rope and tomorrow will be drilling the new huge boing rope we got, il post pics :)

Hope your all well, thanks

x

I know you said you like to go to stores and feel the toys etc, I cannot recommend Scarletts Parrot Essentials online store enough. They're fantastic with a ton of choice for your fids, you call them with a question or ask for suggestisons for toys and they'll walk you through everything and help you out. It's small, family run, they have a bunch of rescued birds (mainly macaws) and so Harley is their 'toy tester' of their bunch, they're brilliant.

But, they're online, sorry!

Where are you at in the UK btw?

Hi Joshua, I've been following your story, congratulations with your new fid Holli!

Where in the UK are you? I'm in the UK too and find the selection of parrot toys is pretty poor. I tend to end up buying dog or rabbit toys for my 10 month old B&G, or make my own. I find the bird toys are over priced and sub standard :(

I love the idea of making my own toys, would be fun for me too lol. I just panic so much about doing something wrong.

Hey guys, I live in the west midlands by Wolverhampton. Just while im at uni.

Thanks Mayden, il take a look at the site, family run is always nice.

Lucy I completely agree, the chains we have here are horrendous when it comes to parrots. An your quite right, sub standard and pricey. I recently have spent about £200 just on toys, a boing, foragers etc and I dont feel I even got a lot lol.

Online may be the place to look, Thanks x

Eclectus Parrot, Rupee
The shop we go to for Rupee is called Southern Aquatics. They have, thankfully, a fairly decent, if overpriced, bird section... though it's quite far from where you are. We're in Dorset!
However I've found that a lot of toys for small mammals, which are much easier and cheaper to get, work just as well. Especially things for ferrets, rats and chinchillas as they like to climb like birds do. Foraging balls and destroyable grass tunnels, hammocks, ropey things with wooden blocks etc.
Also tough dog toys, especially the kind you put treats inside, are good. And 'tinkle balls' from the cat section. I try to avoid the catnip ones though.
The only thing that's really hard to get are the bird-specific clever foraging toys. I have never seen anything like that in a shop, so we order them online.

Good luck with your search!
