Savannah Wing Excercise Update

Some of you may remember that we believe that Savannah my have muscle atrophy in her wing due to being caged bound before she came to live with us. I don't think she can fly at the moment. Her left wing she would never fully extend out.

Well the good news is, just after excercising with her about 5 times outside, she is fully expanding both wings out on her own. The first time I tried to get her to flap she stiffened up and was terrified. Poor thing. But she is getting better now.

This past Monday I had her at work and she began flapping on her own while outside of her cage and had her wings totally spread out! She's done it almost everyday this week on her own. I praise her a ton and tell her "show me big bird". She is loving the attention it brings!

That's great news about Savannah!!!!! Willie will lift his wing to wave at you if your waving at him. Depending on which hand your using he'll use left or right wing to do the waving. He will lift both wings high up and pin his eyes and turn his head left and right then says Big Eagle!

Very cool & fun! Willie is just a character! Got to love him!

Wendy - Thanks! I am hopeful that she will want to fly at some point. I think I may order the flight line that goes with her Aviary harness. Now that will be fun!

So I was having a "slow" moment. I just looked at the photos again and noticed that you exchanged some PVC perches with real wood! AWESOME!!! Does Savannah like her gym much better now?

I did those awhile ago and she likes them much better. I am going to use that wood I told you about and make the top all wood except the arch. I will post a pic when I get it done! Thx for noticing the change!
