Fargo- Blue and Gold Macaw
Warning: Lots and lots of photos !

So.. It was exactly one year ago that i got to bring Fargo home..

After 2-3 months wait, the 8th of September was the day!

I dont even know where to begin..

Fargo is like a totally different bird!

Looking back at old pictures i cant believe how terrible his feathers were when i got him!

Fargo has been a complete angel since the day i got him, SO many people were hesitant about my age...

But this past year has been incredibly easy, he has never bitten me, he never screams, he is never aggressive, he is honestly perfect!

We have had a few adventures, flying up a tree, snake in my room, leg ring caught in cage... those were the days when i probably aged a few years hahaha

But other than that, each day with Fargo is getting better and better...

Most people liked their macaws as really young babies, because they were cuddly and slept on their laps.. But Fargo never ever did that when he was younger.. Each day he is getting friendlier and cuddlier!

This bird is my whole entire life.. I cant even begin to describe how thankful i am that he bonded to me, even when the breeders thought he wouldn't.. and i am even more glad i chose him, when the breeders told me not to!

I love you Fargo Douglas, it has been a terrific year, and i hope at least another 50 more incredible years together!

And without further ado.. LOTS of photos of our year!

Starting out from when i first got him, to just some of my favourite moments and photos of the past year

Firstly:
The day i first met him, destroying everything, wanting nothing to do with people

Trying to hold him, and he was not happy

The second time we saw him, and he wanted to sit up high so we couldnt get him

and then we got him... and then he flew away...

On the way home

Trying to escape

He stepped up right out of his carrier, and stood in his cage, very scared

But within the hour he was already playing with his toys!

He wasnt eating, so the breeder suggested mashing pellets and feeding with a spoon

I let him out the next day, because i felt bad leaving him in a cage!
So he just went and sat on the ladder, away from me!

This is when we started to become friends!
Let me feed him through the bars, still not letting me touch him.. but he would step up!

Then he started sitting closer to me!

This was the best feeling, when he climbed on his cage to get close to me!

But this was one of my favourite moments...

He was looking at me...

and for the first time ever, he came and sat with me, all with his own choice!

Starting to become more active and playful

How terrible his feathers were !!!

Sitting on my arm for one of the first times

Letting me give him scritches for one of the first times, i think this was about 8 days after!

Then we were pretty good friends, and we sat on the bed together, and he was climbing around happily! Such a baby face

Baby face!

Then he finally had his first shower in his whole life, about 2 weeks after i got him.. and i bet he appreciated it, his feathers were just awful!

and from then on Fargo and I were best friends... Incredibly bonded..
So here are some of my favourite photos and moments with him!

Sleeping for one of the first times on my hand!

One of the first times playing on his back

Collage

He trusts me 100%

Poses

Special shots:

and lastly, me and my best friend

Well, i hope you all enjoyed the trip down memory lane, as i am sure most of you wouldn't of seen Fargo's baby photo hahaha

I think we can all agree how much he has changed, and looks sooo much healthier and happier now!

and see, you dont need an instance bond when you first meet, for you to have an incredible bond.. Some birds just need more time, and once you show them love, they will give you their whole heart!

Happy one year!

Oh you definitely will, after 6 days Fargo still wasn't letting me give him scritches! Hahaha

Breeder said he might just be a breeder, not a pet... He doesnt like 'interaction' ;) He is 'feral'

Gosh Fargo is the sweetest bird i have ever known, he doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body!

Just take things slowly, i think i read about 3 books to Fargo in our first few days, so he would get used to me being with him, and my voice! :)

Thank you!

It is crazy how time flies!!! Honestly, i remember how i felt last year when i got him, it was like i was living a dream, i couldn't stop looking at him! 'Do i seriously own a macaw?' :09:

I never DREAMED that having Fargo would be like this, he has turned out 100 times more amazing than i expected !

I didn't know we could ever have a bond this incredible!

Hahaha i am sure he will get to his teenage stage, but i think our situation will be a bit different to most, because its just me and him!

We never even went through the nipping baby stage like most do! :S haha

Love Fargo! I love seeing his transformation.

...secretly was hoping he was THE (Douglas) Fargo :D My husband named his dog Teasa (Tessa, he misspelled it, which made me giggle so I kept it) after I think some geeky girl in Eureka, Warehouse 9, or something like that :p
