Drinking

Hello, my 21 year old blue and gold has begun to drink 6 to 8 ounces of water per day. She appears to be in good health with no behavioral problems at all. She eats like a horse yet, is always drinking. Any suggestions?

Hi there, and welcome to the forum.

I would highly recommend you have your B&G checked by an avian vet. Drinking THAT much water is NOT normal, no. Even though she may appear perfectly healthy, birds are excellent at hiding underlying health problems.

Boysmom, a member here, had a bird that drank water excessively and it had loose poo as well. Definitely have a vet check out the bird before something happens.

Kidney problems and diabetes come to mind.

Please, get your macaw checked out by an avian vet! This is the only sure way to know if your bird is healthy or not!
