Hi all,

I have a blue/gold macaw housed in one room and in a separate room we have our umbrella cockatoo along with our parakeets, cockatiels, love bird, and blue Quaker. All our birds are healthy but because of the dander from our cockatoo or macaw on occasion will get congested and her nares will get red. We have been giving her Ornacycline which we get from PetSmart but found out that the product has been discontinued.

What else could we use to help her with her occasional respiratory problems.

Thanks,

Glenn

Bathe all of your birds at least 2-3 times per week! Keep your cages clean, change papers at least daily, and thoroughly clean 1 per week. Buy a humidifier, change your furnace filter monthly (I use one for pets and it's helped a lot), and dust your house at least weekly. That should keep you from needing to put medicine in your bird. We do this and we have 2 toos right next to our macaws. They're fine. No meds either!
