Mia - Hahn Macaw
Hi everyone

Has anyone used a dremel or something to trim beaks and nails?

I'm thinking about getting one of these:

I would have to towel her and I'm sure she would hate me for awhile, but maybe a bowl of mashed potatoes will smooth things over!

Hmmm, I always had a beak professionally trimmed, but good toys should keep a beak in good condition.

As for nails, not sure. I would ask a vet. My own vet said a regular nail file (sandpaper) should work.

We use a dremel for nails, never needed to trim a beak, but if I did I'd go to the vet.

Have the beak checked first. hahn's tend to appear overgrown but it actually how they are. They are long and very very pointy at the tip. I too thought my Hahn's beak was overgrown and had it checked and it was fine, as far as nail trims. i use and emery board weekly and just file the tiny tip off so they are not pointy. Hope this helps. Elaine and hahnna.

Typical Macaw beak I take it.
