Aww, thanks guys. It's so funny, that people can compliment each other on so many things, like "Nice haircut." or "Wow, great shoes!" or "What a delicious meal." but the compliments that mean the most to me are when knowledgeable people remark about how healthy & happy our birds look.
It is a tremendous source of pride for me, that I am able to nurture them, and that the love I give them shows :)
Thanks

They are both gorgeous! Wingnut actually looks like he is grinning in the second picture:)
I love your stand too, did you make that?

We are looking for a bird for our family. It's very much like we are pregnant and waiting for the day the new addition comes to the family!
They both look like they are smiling! What beautiful birds!

We have had Loki since October, and Wingnut since December. We got our first bird, Bacci, in July, however he was killed by our dogs (and my carelessness, I'm afraid).... I still cannot talk about it :(
It's amazing, I have not had them for very long, but I cannot remember, or imagine my life without birds.

Wendy, we added a top to Lokis store bought play stand, and she liked it so much, that we attached a gnarly wood perch for her. Wingnut is obsessed with climbing down off his cage, waddling across the floor, and climbing up on it. She used to sound the alarm when he was on the way over, but she's used to him now, and I often walk in to find him perched on the only branch that will still hold his fat behind, while she is sitting there like 'whatever'.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bacci. Things like that can happen so swiftly and suddenly.

Your birds definitely seem very happy. I imagine they probably cannot remember, or imagine, a life without you, either.

Valentino - Red Fronted Macaw - Hatched August 12, 2012
I love your birds. They do look so happy and healthy as everyone is saying. Such beautiful babies. After my Illiger's macaw Diego died from his stroke I was looking into Yellow collar macaws but ended up with a RFM instead. Its funny how life takes you into a different direction. I have always had a weakness for the Macaws.

I'm sorry about your Bacci. Diego's stroke was so sudden and the result of his death was only 45 mins from when he collapsed, rushed to the clinic and the doctors trying to save his life. It was so short, unexpected and so shocking I went into a very bad asthma attack. I never even saw that stroke coming. That sudden painful loss takes my breath away and I have never fully recovered but I was able to eventually accept Diego's death enough to get Valentino. Bacci will never be forgotten but I hope for you the pain of his loss will lessen with time.

I hope your macaws help heal your heart like Valentino is doing for me. There is so much comfort in taking care of a baby parrot that needs you. The bonding process and training with the baby kept me busy and helped me move forward. I never regretted taking delivery of Valentino especially after my Noble macaw Mihijo passed from his heart attack two months before Valentino was old enough and weaned to be shipped to me. Both my mini macaws died so close together and were too young. As hard as that was for me to process and grieve I am thankful I have my Valentino. Like you I cannot imagine my life without parrots in it. They are very important to me and have always brought me great comfort in this complicated life.

Oh wow. Thank you Noble Macaw, for your kindness and understanding. I really think that that day was the worst day of my life. He was the sweetest thing. I loved him so much. It still hurts. I love all of my birds, very much, and we have an amazing bond, that grows stronger and stronger..... however, there was something I had with Bacci, that can never be re-created.... his life was such a special time in my life. He taught me so much, and because of him, I felt love for another creature, that I never knew I was capable of feeling. I am glad to know you, because from your words, and what you have gone through, I can tell you truly understand.
