Is this molting or plucking?

Captain Jack will be a year old this April. Recently I have noticed a lot of feather shedding. Today in the back close to the legs and the very backside (closest to the tail I noticed a bunch of down feathers. I plan on talking to my vet tomorrow and inform her of this but I was wondering if this sounds like a normal molt or not. There is no down feathers showing on his chest etc.

If you feel a lot of pins its molting.

I took a picture of the area. I had to move the wings out of the way in order for it to be seen clearly.

The photo seems blurry to me but from what I can see it probably is a molt. Look for pin feathers.

Hard to tell. Probably just a heavy molt if there is pin feathers too though.

Just to post a update I took Captain Jack to the vet to get his nails trimmed. The vet looked him over and said he is molting right now.
