Okay, had to post... was excited... really is like adopting a new baby for the family - granted he's a 25 year old baby, but still a big baby!!

I spoke to AHW this morning and we have the formal approval for adoption of Max!! My husband is off on Friday, so I am hoping we might be able to go over to visit Max again (and of course be put to work helping at the rescue)!

So as the time frame looks, Max should be home within a month, don't want to bring him home before a couple more macaw exposure training sessions, and if we do the move this soon, don't want to put him thru that after just being dropped off at the shelter.

And a month seems like a great time frame to become more competent at coming up with big bird toys!!!

I would love to just go pick him up right now and bring him home, but also know that without a little more hands on time, I would easily get bullied by him if he realized he could. He is a big sweet guy, but still any bird will test you. Rather know how to pass that test then be on here trying to find help in what to do after its a problem

Besides the shelter will be happy to have us over more, indentured servitude

OHHH CONGRATS !!!!!!!! I have a HUGE Bird toy I will send u !!! it can be his coming home gift . Im so happy for you, and Max. Im jealous to cause I want a Macaw for my husband but I have to wait till loki is more under control lol. ( hole new story... Crazy bird )

Max's first homecoming gift Will be like a baby shower! A birdie shower!!

I think Victoria has picked a cage out... good news is that with the move, we will only need to buy one cage and not two!

Its gonna be a long month... really motivated now to get the move done! Victoria will be happy to finally get an extra room for the birds and I'm gonna guess she is gonna start eyeing another macaw since I 'stole' Max from her. Tho he is just the perfect family bird. He loves everyone and anyone who will give him a head scratch!

Hey! I'm not gonna take home some random macaw because I just have to have one now. If someone pics me out or I work with one at the shelter and build a bond then okay but I'm not taking home a bird just to take one home! Jeez....

as I said you will start eyeing someone up... or they will start eyeing you up is probably most like it... If you spend more time working with Scarlett, might be a red bird in your future another problem bird that no one but you will be able to handle! I think I see a pattern that may develop!!

Or we could do a drive by when Wendy is in the bathroom and you can steal Ripley... and I'll sneak Oscar out too... don't want him barking and alerting her, so better off just to bring him along...

Maybe you'll find yourself a Green Wing or a Military(I hear they're super cuddly of macaws!) that chooses you just like Folger did...
With a can opener beak like that, you can bet NO ONE would try to take a bonded mac from you!
I kid, of course. I'm super excited to hear ya'll have moving forward with adopting Max. I'm with everybody else, can't wait for updates and pictures!

Lol Ashley! No one takes Folger from me either.... wide berths are made to get around us when he is out I can't wait for Max to come home and see what exactly the dynamic will be with all of us. We aren't sure exactly whose bird he is but I'm thinking he is my mothers these days...
