I visited Kali again on Monday. I only took a couple pictures this time.
She has really grown and is acting much more independent. She is also very stubborn about flying. She flew from me into a door ( that the breeder was on the other side of) and then did it again from her stand. The third time she tried I was standing there and forced her to land on my arm. She was determined to get her way though. I can see she is gonna be a challenge lol. The breeder says that so far she has not been destructive. She will only clip her if she starts flying and chewing up her things. But so far she only wants to fly to her because she wants to be with the breeder. The breeder told me she prob will not be making it home by the end of May because she is not weaning as quickly as expected. A little disappointing but I am happy she is doing whats right for Kali and myself.
I volunteered and helped clean the cages and got to play with a bunch of young birds. I wanted to take them home to!!
Well here are the pictures:)

Wow! So much difference between the stunningly beautiful little girl she is now and the bald baby she was just a few months ago :p She really has beautiful plumage. I think we need a comparison photo to see her transformation from a hatchling to this:D;)

Will you be going to visit her more often now? So she gets used to you and make the transition home easier:) I know it's disappointing you won't bring her home as soon as you hoped, but it really is best for them to be fully weaned if you aren't experienced with it. She will be a healthier and happier bird in the long run.

Kali just gets more beautiful all the time!
I am sorry she won't be coming home as early as hoped, but it is wonderful that the breeder cares about her babies and wants to make sure they are completely weaned:)
I agree with April, a comparison photo would be awesome!

I am gonna go bird crazy before this is over with. I have everything setup and ready to go. I cant wait to get her home and really start the bonding process. She was reluctant to let me give her scratches this time to, but after I got to her sweet spot she melted. Lol it was so funny because she was trying to make sounds but it felt to good, so it sounded like she was heavy breathing. I don't know how much more my heart can bare to wait!

Thank you for the pictures! That is so amazing looking at where she started in that tiny egg to now!
No wonder you are going crazy with waiting, she is such a stunner!

Love that progression! You seriously need to get one of those frames that holds multiple photos and start filling it up with Kali's pictures:)

I *WISH* I had pictures like that of Kiwi from the moment he hatched to when he became a mature bird, but you don't get that with a rescue. Consider yourself lucky you have these wonderful photos of your beautiful baby (erm, lovely young lady now):D

I am thankful to have those pics! I am gonna make a photo album of her.... I kinda wish I had a piece of her shell to put in there (kinda like a babies lock of hair) I definitely want to keep tons of pictures so I can look back. I am thankful for my breeder to. She Has been great about posting pics and having me visit. Also taking my request 4 her wings not to be clipped into consideration. I would also like to rescue a bird but living where I do, it is difficult. Im not within their home inspection range so they wont go through with it. I will be moving eventually so maybe I will then. I would love to get a greenwing ( lol don't tell my family I am thinking about that) I have about driven them crazy with Kali.

Kali is such a beautiful bird! I'm glad the breeder isn't in a rush to have her weaned. Although it sucks that you won't be able to bring her home just yet, it's so much better for her mental & physical health if she's allowed to wean at her own pace. Definitely worth the wait. :)

I am to. Its so important that they are force weaned. I am happy she is taking the time with her... I am just anxious to get my baby home. My next obstacle will be not staying home with her all day everyday! I am going to want to spend every minute with her but I'm going to try to limit my time with her to match up with what id spend with her when I work, even though ill probably stay home a few days when I get her home.

I am glad that Kali wont be ready yet now. My father fell and broke his hip:-( I am going to have a lot to do now and I am hoping he will be able to make it home after therapy. He was not doing well before this, so I don't know if he will recover from this:-( I am a little upset over this whole thing. I am going to do all I can 4 my dad and Kali when she comes home.
I just wanted to vent some on here.... keep us in your thoughts.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father. I hope he makes a full recovery, and that all will have settled down by the time Kali comes home.

Thanks kiwi! I am very concerned at this point. He has nuclear cerebral palsy which affects his ability to walk because of balance problems. He is already weak so this will be a long recovery...that is if he can recover. IM hoping for the best but time will tell.
Thanks again kiwi for your thoughts.

Thanks Wendy,
He will be getting a hip replacement tomorrow and will have to spend a month or two in a nursing home for recovery. I hope he is able to recover from it. I am on my way to visit with him now.
I kinda wish I had Kali at home to keep my mind off things. I have been pretty worried about everything, even though there is nothing I can do right now.
thanks again for your thoughts:)

Wendy,
He got done with his surgery yesterday at 6pm. Everything went great and he seems to be doing pretty good. He will still have a long period of recovery but he is off to a good start. They said he will be able to walk around today some:)
Speaking of Kali. The breeder posted new pics of her! She has gotten even bigger! She is a very big girl.

Thanks for the update, Everette, and the AWESOME photos of gorgeous Kali!

I'm so glad to hear your dad made it through the surgery so well. :) Yes, the road to recovery won't be short, but he will be so glad he did it in the long run.

Is Kali on one feeding per day now?
