Our sennie named our BTM

So, since we got our BTM on Saturday we've had a heck of a time thinking of names. Normally my partner is very good at that kind of stuff. She names all our pets and usually she knows right away. Well, this time we couldn't decide, so each day we've been trying out several names to see if any fits. Karen is really hoping she's a girl, so we've been concentrating on girl names.

Today I walked up to her on her tree and I said, "Hi, Zoe!" and Sydney, my sennie, screams ZOEEEEE! He said it about 3 times. So I messaged Karen and told her Sydney had picked her name. It's Zoe and she said, fine with me.

So unless she turns out to be a he her name is Zoe :) Here's a couple of pics of her asleep in my arms. The first pic she's on her back cradled in my left arm as I'm taking the pic with my right hand.

This pic she's doing the ball of feathers routine asleep on my chest. Excuse the quality, I was using the front facing camera on my cell phone, which was no mean trick while I was trying to hold her.

And she had her well bird visit today. She LOVED the vet even after he poked and prodded.

Oh so much cuteness I can't stand it, that first pic of her asleep OMG  how adorable!
IF I was ever to get a big mac and I don't see that ever happening that is the kind I would want!

Pitty the poor thing is so terribly nervous and unhappy in her new home! Maybe if you are patient, and you give it a little more time she'll settle in and stop acting so skittish... :D

Yep, these guys and the red fronts... these little big macs have some of the best personalities and tempernments of all of them!

That bird is just too sweet... !! Love the name! Love how she got the name! That actually works...

Dang it you are making me want a macaw! She's so adorable!

Well, if it makes you feel any better: Macaws are actually all just aggressive feathered buzz saws waiting to lunge bite and take your fingers off...

(Just ask anyone who DOESN'T own one. They'll tell you! :D)

Seriously, be afraid... be very, very afraid!

So this begs the question, and I have to put you on the spot and ask it: Now that you have had a day or two to think about it, would you still have brought home the Jardine?!

(I know. I'm just evil that way...)

If it were MY bird, yes, only because by myself I knew I wouldn't have enough time to give 2 sennies and a macaw by myself. My partner won't have anything to do with the sennies so I just don't have enough time for all three on my own.

With Zoe I get home around 430 so that gives me enough time to snuggle her and give everyone their afternoon veggies and my partner gets home around 630 and she gets her for the rest of the evening.

HOWEVER, if you asked me if I had met her before the sennies....well that's another story....

PS... Yes, you're very evil :)

I get that. Thanks for the insight.

Okay Karen, I have to hand it to you, those award winning photos of Zoe(fantastic name)really melt my heart. What a perfect adoption!!! I'm so happy for all of you! How many people can say they let one of their feathered family members name the new (?)girl?

I MUST stop searching for a macaw breeder in Central Texas. And Popeye is sick of hearing UTube videos of talking, singing, dancing macaws. :)

NO NEED TO SEARCH. THAT'S AN EASY CALL... WENDY CRAIG, ONE OF THE BEST MACAW BREEDERS IN THE US... AND SHE'S IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD...

AND OH, LOOK, SHE SPECIALIZES IN RED FRONTS AND BLUE THROATS! WHAT AN AMAZING COINCIDENCE...

Did I mention that I can be quite evil?! :D

I LOVE THAT!!! Zoe is perfect! :D Sydney is a funny guy too.

When do the DNA results come back? Do you have a "feeling" she's a girl? If not Zoe is still okay! What was the original name?

You know... Since the Sennies are so easy, how about just going back and getting the Jardine's too? Even though Zoe takes considerable time, remember she has Karen... and another Poi, even a bigger one should still be fairly easy and independent. Makes sense right??!! :D

Scott Lewis of Old World Aviaries has red fronted babies, just saying! :) He's in Austin.

Julie, you're just as evil as Mark! The shop owner thinks she's a girl. She is small at 590.... So maybe?

And thank you everyone for the kind words. She

Personally, one of the things I love about these birds is the way their little faces turn pink like that when they are happy, or excited to see you...

The love in these little guys "bubbles over."

Ummm... Buffons and Militaries also turn red, but it usually means something completely different. (i.e. Territorial Intrusion. I'm fixin' to kill something!)
