As most of you know, macaws tend to be "one man birds" and only can be handled by their owner. I have the luxury of having a 32 year old Blue and Gold named "Kayko" who is completely safe to perch on the arms of a 2 year old. Kayko is a little goofy and often looks at people with his head upside down. I tell people he rode the short bus to school. This past weekend here in Jacksonville we had quite a football game in our stadium called the "Tax Slayer Bowl". It was played by teams from both Tennessee and Iowa (Why was it held here???) Anyway, the weather here was perfect, even record settingly warm, so I loaded up my Scarlet; Clifford and my B&G; Kayko and went downtown to our popular gathering place called The Landing on the river and allowed hundreds of people to take a cell phone picture with my B&G on their arm. Clifford would bite everybody, but readily talks in public so he stays on my left shoulder and Kayko on my right arm. There were 58,000 people at that game, all from out of town from cold places enjoying a break from harder life up there. At least I brought a little joy to some people (especially children) who have never seen, heard, or held a macaw. Here are some pictures of previous outings, like at the beach.
