My Blue and Gold and yeast infections

Hi, my blue and gold had 2 yeast ifections over the past 4 years
I was wondering if anyone else's birds have suffered from anything like this
or similar?

HOWEVER, and I hate to be the barer of bad news, but repeated yeast infections can be an early sign of macaw wasting disease. If this bird is exposed to other macaws get him in quarantine, and get him tested YESTERDAY OR SOONER...

It's not wasting disease. She's been tested and in care of one of the Best Avian Dr. in the State Of Florida. Dr. Parrott or as we know her as Dr. Polly.
I now know what to look for. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
She is the only macaw in the house. andhas not been near or around any other macaws.

I have had yeast in the crop of budgies being hand fed, and actually lost one due to my own inexperience and not knowing what I was looking at. I do not have any macaws, however, and that clutch of budgies was the only time I have dealt with the problem - they were pulled from a very nasty situation.

I just wanted to make sure she had been tested since this can be an early warning sign.

With birds, being alarmist and shouting out the worst case scenario is how we all help keep each other's birds alive, since they hide their illnesses so well.

I know that all too well, as in the first instance I didn't know what to look for. I remember her feathers starting to look ragged and chewed upon and that she was as active and vocal. I rushed her to the ER after hours clinic after work. And made an appointment for the next day at Dr. P's office.
She sent cultures to Gainsville Fl. and we waited for results. In a few days later she called in a prescipt into our local drug store.
42 days of Fluconosole (sp?) twice daily.
She did really well and srted being her own self again. That was in 2009, now fast forward to October of 2014 and we had the same again, only I caught it in the early stage and we got away with 14 days of meds.

We do know that she has an enlarged heart. My vet is trying to determine if the heart condition is what has weakened her immune system.

Under our vets advice, we added Sunshine Factor from Avi Heal. Its certified organic red palm oil.
We mix it in our Birdie bread, that is totally organic and does not contain salt, sugar or processed flour.

So I just keep a keen eye on droppings, (Yes, I am the -poop monitor).
and general well being. She gets weighed every morning before breakfast and I do look to make sure there is no plaque in the mouth.

Whew!! We have been together for 18 years. She was given to me when she was two. We have learned alot about each other over the years. She has been very forgiving in my early years of clumsiness on how to handle.

I had Budgies, love birds and cockatiels in the past. All of those crossed over to the rainbow bridge many years ago. I was in my teens then, now in my fifties, I have a friend I hope, for many years to come.

Well my understanding is that any condition that suppresses the immune system can cause this as a byproduct.

Oddly enough, I recently fought the same issue with my female B&G back in Sept.; the vet said that it was all hormone-related, and that because she was "coming of age" it was likely just a change in her body chemistry.

It was many months before I learned this was the actual problem, (I just thought she had dry, winter skin), but it would get better and then digress. I finally opted to have a hormone implant put in her back in Nov. when she wouldn't stop plucking (also hormones, they said).

She's calmed down tremendously, her feathers are growing back, but we're supplementing her with fatty acids (though I did just find Harrison's Mix, which I like much better), and she is on the slow(er than I'd liked) road to recovery. She's definitely a happier girl, and the yeast hasn't been seen since.
