Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
They both look fairly young. You can't say for sure just by looking at them how old they are...

However, I cannot stand to see those leg chains... I hate that practice. If your bird gets spooked by something he could easily break his leg.

They can be trained to stay put without the use of a leg chain. And chest harnesses are a lot safer than leg chains.

They look like they're under arrest! :smile037::red::smile037::blue: I promise you don't need those things. Check out the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/AVIATOR-Bird-Harness-Leash-X-Large/dp/B000TF9CI2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1432306426&sr=8-3&keywords=aviator+harness+large"]Aviator harness[/ame]. (That link leads to the Amazon.com Aviator in size X-Large. Like Mark said, you can also start working on "stay put" and recall (indoors). There are many threads on training your birds these things.

Beautiful babies!!!! But I have to agree those leg chains are bad. I had a friend that used one on her scarlet and the poor thing lost its leg when it couldn't get away from the family dog,it survived, but come on! Make better choices while the birds are young.

Diet is very important but maybe taking the birds to a vet would be appropriate that way you can insure good health.

But please don't think that we believe you are using the leg chains to be cruel--it is obvious you love your new birds. We just want you to be aware of the dangers before something bad happens and you (and your bird) have to go through that pain! Here is a short but informative article on why parrots are more prone to injury than falcons in the leg area and, therefore, should never be leashed by the leg, be it with a leather falconer's strap or a metal chain.

Why You Should Not Tether a Parrot

Beautiful companions. However I would kindly suggest you remove the chains, they re not good and can injure your beautiful birds. Thank you. Have a nice day.

Hi thanks for the comments here. But friend macaw it's almost fully wing, and it's not bonded yet. Just in case spook off, then can't get back!! Bid this macaw cross breed is not cheap. I need to work at least 7mths then can buy. Plus need to super save.. For my blue and gold macaw I don't chain him/her. Cos get bonded. But still need tips for training for not nipping and basic stuff..

The key here is to keep them indoors. Then they can't get away but you don't need chains. :)

If you are that worried about him flying away, clip him. Leg chains are very cruel. You don't want such a lovely, expensive bird to break his leg, do you? You came to a great forum full of knowlegable, wonderful members who care soooo much about their fids. We won't particularly want to help you out if you're going to keep your super adorable bird on a chain.

I know that you're just trying to help, and I know what you mean by this, but please understand that the OP has heard many times on this thread that this practice is bad, and I'm sure he isn't doing it for the purpose of being cruel. He simply didn't know, and he is here on the forum to learn :)... Anyway, that was his friend's bird, and hopefully he will tell his friend of the dangers! Thanks...

Unfortunately it's impossible to determine their ages, as they are both obviously past the baby stage (eyes have reached mature colors). Once their eye color has changed, a 2 year old bird my look identical to a 20+ year old bird.

As for your friends big mac, yes, he could very well be a Buffon hybrid. :) How big is he, do you have his weight? He could also be a Military Macaw hybrid.

My friend hybrid macaw just got yesterday. To me is very small size. Weight mostly around 700/800g above..

For my bng macaw, he/she was imported from Spain or euro. So I hope someone can help me check with the breeder over there..

..

If the weight is right, then I'd say this bird is a Military Macaw hybrid. Buffon's are rather large macaws, weighing around 1,250-1,500g. Military Macaws weigh around 800-1,000g.

As for the feathers on your B&G, he looks just fine to me. He may just be re-growing some new feathers, but I truly didn't see any 'bald' spots that I'd worry about.

I don't like using any additives personally in water. Just frequent baths/showers usually suffice.

Have you seen your B&G picking on her legs? I did see the bald spot in the last set of photos you posted. Giardia 'could possibly' be the reason.
Giardia in Birds
Giardia: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Only a vet would be able to determine whether your bird would be affected with this or not.
