Like, "He's so beautiful..." Then my brain goes for a trip to Dreamland, and the next thing I know, I'm looking up names.

It helps that I don't have $1300 to whip out on a whim, but it doesn't take away the temptation to negotiate the price.

Additionally, it is against Craigslist policy to sell animals of any kind. The owners can ask for a modest rehoming fee to pay for some basic expenses.

In the case of a bird, the owner is fully within their rights to sell the cage and supplies. We all know those hold real value and are totally within the terms and conditions of Craiglist.

I have a love/hate relationship with Craigslist as well. I tend to report a lot of posts, but they don't get pulled quite fast enough for my liking. I also do a "picture search" in my browser on any pictures I see of birds. My conure was a craiglist find. The previous owner had pulled stock photos of a blue crown off the internet because his bird was pretty pitiful looking. (her tail grew back with better nutrition and less smoke)

So buyer beware.... big time. I see some horrible things. A military macaw was in the barter section. The owner wanted 800 for this "former breeder" or a utility trailer in trade. The bird was in a rusted cage with no perches and wasn't tame. After talking with the "owner" for a couple months I offered $250 in cash without the cage. The bird was in bad shape in the pictures. The vet bills alone would have crossed the 1k range. Owner refused my "low ball" offer. She should have paid me to take the bird.
