Watch Me Grow

Hi there,
Some of you recently saw that I was on the market for a new family member and was torn between a galah, B&G macaw, or a GW macaw. I was communicating with a breeder about a galah, but as life has it, when one door closes another door opens. After much communication with another breeder, I have placed a deposit on a baby GW and am very confident in my decision!

Sexing to come next week.
Naming to come shortly after!

It will be a long 4 and a half months, but it will give me time to make everything perfect for the perfect baby!

I am super excited!
This will not be my first bird. We've had a goffin most of my life (as well as budgies, lovebirds, tiels, and non hookbills in the past). I'm buying my first house on my own though, so this will be my first bird where someone isn't home basically 24/7. I've actually been revolving my house choice around parrot ownership.

YAYYY!!! Many congrats!!! :jumping40:jumping40

I'm SO excited for you! What a precious baby!!

Will you be able to visit him as he grows up? (I'll call him 'he' until we know otherwise, ok? I just can't call him an 'it'. Can't do that, a personal pet peeve of mine, LOL)

Doing the happy dance for you here:

Thank you! I am still a little in disbelief that I will get to share my life with such an amazing creature!

Unfortunately, the breeder I was drawn to is in CA and I am from MD. Weekly pictures, videos, and updates will be provided.

PS- that baby scares me a little.

So very amazing! So excited for you! Is this your first bird?

It's okay, I'll have to be jealous of all you macaw owners while I wait my 4.5 months!

Hey now, NOTHING wrong with my dancing baby. :54:

Anyone with experience with the "double macaw cages"?

What do you want to know??? They are AWESOME. They are huge, roomy, and GREAT for a GW. :) (No, I don't have one....I'm lacking necessary space for 2 X double big mac cages)

I'll admire the baby from afar. Very far lol

The double is certainly my preference as of right now; the bigger the better!
I just want to make sure that it can fit through my door (I assume they come in pieces), and I was wondering if anyone had specific recommendations on cages (types, brands, or otherwise).

Also hoping for an outdoor aviary of some sort, but that will likely come next year, since by the time my baby comes, there'll only be 1-2 months of warmth yet.
