Hello,
I just adopted a green Wing Macaw. I am bringing the bird into my home and Saturday and was wondering if anybody has any suggestions on how to clean the cage? What products are safe and works best?
I appreciate any advice I can get.:red1:

Dawn Dish Liquid or Gain Detergent Wipe down good then Steam it.

I use a steamer sometimes as well. It is a safe way to keep bacteria! I also use Poop Off. Here is a link: Poop-Off Bird Poop Remover Spray & Anywhere Wipes

I buy BBQ brushes to scrape off any poop from the bars and it works well. Does not tear off the powder coating.

Congrats and good luck!

I was actually wonderin how you macaw owners get those big cages outside to clean them...do you have to take them apart or do they fit through the door?

I have not broke mine down yet. Once a month though I lay towels / old sheets under the cage . I take all trays out and climb inside of it LOL Up I am short enough to stand in it. I wipe it down good and then steam every single bar.

I wish I would fit out the door. I would Power wash it.

When I steam them I do it in my bird room that has linoleum floors! And yes, I would have to take them apart to get them out of the room. Not doing that if I can help it! Lol!

My go to cleaner is distilled white vinegar and water. Totally non toxic and does a good job cleaning. Minor smell but it dissipates when it dries in a few minutes.
