I had the movie I am Legend on last night. Messing around with a new Reader and just chillin.

BB Was in his cage Roosting. James came in and we were talking about the movie. All of a sudden BB went nuts. Jumped to the side of the cage flapping wings HARD Screaming so loud my ears were ringing. I ran to the cage and unlocked it reached in rubbing him on his back. I did not see anything around that would bother him. I could hear James say something but BB was so freaking loud I could not make it out.

I tried to grab BB but nope not having anything to do with that. He grabbed my finger in his beak and tried to pull me over to him. I had no clue what was going on all of a sudden it stopped. Dead stone cold quiet .

BB came across the cage to me . I looked at James and he was laughing the jerk. The movie we were watching......... it came to the part where the undead people were trying to eat Will Smith............ BB I guess thought the screams for help were real . Thought the Monsters were real and he was Yelling for his flock to get the flock out of there . That must have been what it was because as soon as James turned the TV off he stopped.

Not sure if it was the sound or site . He could see the TV It freaked me out him acting like that. I felt so sorry for him.

Does that count as parrot abuse Christine LOL - showing BB scary movies? Ah see he loooves ya really, he thought you were being attacked by the monsters.

They usually ramp up the volume of the background music at certain parts which probably played it's part in alerting BB too.

Well this is the first time i have heard the full vocal sound of a Macaw. My hears were ringing . Serious I can see where i could cause some damage.

I noticed he loves cartoons and i keep them on when at work . But just did not think a scary movie :( would freak him out like that.

At least you can watch TV with BB in the same room. When we had to bring Plum in re the new oven, we were being sent to bed early because he kept telling us off.

Wait, Chris, was this really the first time BB 'let lose'??? :11: That's incredible! Now imagine 2 of them with that same volume BB displayed.... at the same time.... :54:

All of mine get to see the TV. Some more than others. I know they love cartoons, every single one of them. They also like the Animal Planet and NatGeo Wild. Certain movies gets them going, yes, that's why we really have to wait until they're tucked in before we can watch a good movie or show - in peace and quiet. :32: Alex thinks they have it out for him, because he honestly cannot watch anything during the day without them 'interrupting'. :21:

BTW, GREAT movie, 'I am Legend'! :D

If he has cut loose like that before I can't remember it. I know he has screamed before but never loud enough to make my ears ring. OMG that was awsome LOL

Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
Mine also like watching TV. Cartoons always held their attention.

I've played other bird videos for them, and they like that.

Tusk seems to really like hockey... even does his poofy bird dance when someone gets slammed into the boards. Yells GOAL when the buzzer goes off...

He sings the Blackhawks goal scoring song... not always when the game is on... that one is priceless "Doot-Dootle-Dootle-Dootle-Doot" learned that one last year during their cup run... Sorry Tusk, they're already out this year. "GO SHARKS!"

Never seen them react like that to scarey movies, but I can see where it could happen. And yeah, the macaw flock alarm was designed to alert the entire neighborhood... so...

And it did that Mark. Just called the woman living down the Shore from us. Asked did she hear him last night. She said Hear I thought you were in my house lol 1/2 mile away that is funny.

James thinks it was the little kid in the moving yelling for help that made BB react like that. He tends to pay big attention to a child's voice .

One of the freakiest things that ever happened to me was when I lived in California, and EVERY BIRD IN THE HOUSE - AND I HAD 11 AT THE TIME - WAS GOING BANANAS - SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS, FREAKED OUT, COULD NOT BE CONSOLED OR QUIETED DOWN...

It was insane and I couldn't figure it out. I left for work with fried nerves...

And as I walked to the car I saw it. The crows had babies in their nests, and the hawks were raiding the nests. There was a air war going on between the crows and the hawks. The babies were being taken, and were screaming....

I couldn't hear it, and didn't know it was happening - BUT MY FLOCK SURE KNEW, AND REACTED TO IT!!!

2 things Willow doesn't like:

1: Scary movies.
2: Scary movies in the dark.

She absolutely flipped one night when we were watching one of the Saw movies, similar situation. I felt bad, even as I laughed, I held her for a bit then put her to bed upstairs early.
