- Gcc- Conlan... Sun Conure- Mouse...Jenday- Kellan... RLA- Happy...B&G Macaw- Rhage
Rhage, my B&G, has been home for 2 weeks today! He's already taught me a few things....
1. He's more aware of his mouth and pressure than I thought an almost 5 month old Macaw would be.
2. Anything is a pacifier. Food, clothes, fingers, toys... And that 'pacifier' is something he must have at all times. Good thing I'm good at being one handed. My finger, or hand, is in his mouth more than I use it.
3. A wing flap to the head hurts more than a Conure wing to the face.
4. Sleeves are a must unless you want people to question if you have a self harm issue.
5. If you want to keep him busy, a stand in front of the window is fantastic.
6. Blueberries are a favorite treat... Plus make great wall paint.
7. Peeing alone is a forgotten memory.
8. Be can go from sounding like a whiney baby to sounding like an anhry velociraptor from Jurassic Park in .5 seconds.
9. He's quieter than I thought he'd be... For now.
10. He has learned the sound of my car lock horn.
11. He is quickly learning boundaries.
12. A neck scratch and chest cuddles cures anything.
But most of all I've learned these...
1. Trust can overcome scary things.. Like a scale.
2. He can go from playing with a harness to wearing one in less than 2 weeks as long as he's on your lap and playing with your hand.
3. His baby wonder never ceases to amaze me.
4. He's more happy see new people than new toys.
5. I get more kisses from him then my dogs.
6. He has brought more happiness and light into my home than I ever bought possible.
7. He is already sounding out I Love You.
8. He is worth a million times more than his, 1 lb 13 oz, weight in gold
Our adventure is only beginning and I can't wait to see where we go from here. He's been nothing short of amazing so far, even his tantrums are small in comparison to my Conures. I know, it's just the start he'll get a thousand times worse. But so far he's doing great.
