I have an 12 yr old Military Macaw that I have made a final decision to have her adopted. She has a history of being abused and I can only get her to come to me even though ive had her for over 2 years now and she still bites me and leaves scars. I don't have the correct amount of time for had needs daily and feel she would be better off placed with someone who understands bird abuse better than I. I received her and her cage from a terrible living condition and I think it has made her very angry and not be able to detach from the abuse. This is an extremely hard decision, but if she's not hiding in one of her playpen that we've made for her around the house or sitting on one of her eggs or a tennis ball (when I take the egg) she just sits and screams. She will step up after biting me (I know why she bites before stepping up). She will give me a kiss and once in a while if one of us is "belly" laughing, she will copy us. The only word she says that is heard clearly is HELP. She doesn't say it much anymore since there is only love in our home, but I'm just giving a little history for anyone who may want to come meet her and potentially adopt her. Please don't try to talk me out of it, I have thought long and hard about this and it is my final answer. Thank you.

Thank you for rescuing this bird, and for trying, and caring.
I wish you the very, very best as you try to find her the best home possible.
I'd love to hear happier news when it comes along. :)

I live in western NY David. This is an extremely hard decision to make, but she needs someone who can help her move on and be happy again, if she ever knew how to be happy in the first place.
