Murphy is about 28 years old and in excellent health. She has been well loved and cared for. Unfortunately, family circumstances have changed dramatically and I can no longer keep her. I am in the Los Angeles area, and she has a lovely new indoor-outdoor custom stainless aviary, which will come with her. to her new home if you want it. She is a very sweet bird, though tends to bond with one person, which her avian veterinarian tells me is not unusual at her age. She has never had any major health issues, is microchipped, and well loved by me and the rest of her family. I have given this careful consideration and I know that a new home would be best for her. She would probably do better with someone who has some experience with large parrots, since she is older. I have veterinary records. If you can offer her a home, please let me know. Time is of the essence.

She is currently staying at a trusted avian store in Torrance, and they are helping to try to find her a home.

I'm so sorry you are having to make this choice. After so long I know it must be extremely difficult and I don't want to be disrespectful at all, so I hope you won't mind if I leave this link here for you? I'm sure you probably have considered this very hard and have already thought of these things but I would feel better knowing I had at least shared it with you. I know the pain of rehoming when it really is the best thing and I just wouldn't wish that on you or your bird.

Thank you. Yes, I have read this and many articles. I appreciate your concern. I have struggled with this but after many weeks of thinking, reading, and even praying, and a lot of tears, I have to find her a new home. But I do appreciate your concern and understanding.

Unfortunately I've had to let a pet go in the past so I understand. It's gut wrenching but sometimes it IS the best thing. I wish I could give your sweet bird a home, but I don't think a macaw of any age would find her best situation in my home, and I know it would not be best for my flock. There are a lot of great people out there though, and I pray that the right adopter comes along soon.

So sorry to hear this and hope Murphy's forever home is just around the corner. Do you think it might be a good idea to put up a fee/charge for Murphy's sake? Any queries or concerns/advice re applicants just shout, there are experienced folk here pleased to help and we all want her to go to the right home.
